Biography:

Chris comes to Gordon-Conwell with a broad background of teaching, pastoral and clinical experience, having worked in established pastoral church ministry, church planting, and a range of mental health settings. Chris has taught students of diverse ages, from grade to graduate school, in a variety of settings, including private grade school, public and private higher education, and in ministry as a pastor and teacher. Prior to joining Gordon-Conwell, Chris was lead pastor of a church in Denver, NC. He has over 15 years of experience in ministry.

Chris is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. Although he has worked with a wide variety of clients and difficulties, Chris specializes in the following clinical areas: anxiety, men's issues, trauma, couple's work, and spiritual issues. He brings a holistic approach to working with people that values individuals as physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and social beings.

Chris is currently working on research in the area of model development for the process of post-traumatic growth. His other research interests include professional identity development, clinical counseling supervision, and effectiveness in pedagogical technique and theory.

Chris has been happily married to Heather since 1998 and they have two rambunctious and vibrant young boys and a thoroughly-loved little girl.
