Dr. Raymond Pendleton

Biography:

Dr. Pendleton came to Gordon-Conwell in 1975 from Salem State College, where he had taught for 10 years. In the past, he has worked as a clinical psychologist in mental health centers in the greater Boston area. Currently, he is the Assistant Rector for Pastoral Care and Healing Ministry at Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church in Danvers.

Much of Dr. Pendleton’s time is spent teaching at Bible conferences and in local congregations on the subject of family life and marriage. He has served as the executive pastor of Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Boston. He was recently ordained a priest in the New England Diocese of the Anglican Church in North America. He is the chair of the board of FOTOS (Fish On The Other Side), a ministry to those struggling with gender identity, and is a board member of Hagar’s Sisters, a ministry to families experiencing domestic abuse.

Dr. Pendleton is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Massachusetts Psychological Association. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and is included in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He, along with Gordon-Conwell professors Dr. Karen Mason and Dr. Pablo Polischuk, recently received a Lilly Theological Research Grant for the project Protestant Clergy Referral of Suicidal Persons.

Dr. Pendleton’s scholarly interests include gerontology, family issues, family ministry and domestic abuse and violence. His personal interests include golf, cooking and music.
