Th.M. in Practical Theology - Doctor of Ministry Program

ADVANCED STANDING with A TH.M. IN PRACTICAL THEOLOGY

We are pleased to announce the potential for those with a Th.M. in Practical Theology from Gordon-Conwell to pursue Advanced Standing in our Doctor of Ministry program.

Upon qualifying, this movement enables a continued journey in several existing Doctor of Ministry tracks. Students receive credit towards one of their required residencies and pay eight quarters of tuition instead of twelve.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Eligibility for advanced standing is verified in the review of official graduate Gordon-Conwell transcripts, including the Th.M.

Those applying after graduating with an eligible Th.M. must indicate intentions to pursue advanced standing benefits during the regular application process.

Those applying before graduating with an eligible Th.M. may not apply for advanced standing during the application process. It is possible later, however, to apply for the advanced standing benefit – if earning an eligible Th.M. happens prior to the second DMIN residency. To petition for advanced standing after beginning the DMIN journey, a student must be in a benefit participating track and submit an official Th.M. transcript for review. This petition must be made before the fifth quarter of DMIN tuition is billed.

The Doctor of Ministry office assigns each eligible student a project coordinator from the mentor team of each track. This coordinator gives final approval for advanced standing after reviewing a finished advanced standing project, which the student completes at the beginning of their studies.

IN OUR GLOBAL CHRISTIANITY TRACK

Advanced standing allows for those enrolled into the Global Christianity, Development & Leadership track to skip or audit the first residency.

Auditors are full participants in the residency; completing pre-residency requirements and participating in discussions and presentations.

IN OUR PASTORAL THEOLOGY TRACK

Through three specialized residencies, Pastoral Theology in Practice addresses three keys to effective ministry; proclaiming the Word, deepening the Call, and caring for the Flock. Advanced standing provides credit towards one residency.

Each entry point begins a new cohort, switching from one cohort to another is not allowed. Carefully apply for the starting point that consecutively completes two residencies.

English Entry Points are every year: Charlotte (February), Liderazgo Pastoral (July), and Hamilton (October).
