The Jacksonville site functions much like the Charlotte campus: an adult education model, a weekend course format and an emphasis on the mentoring process through partnerships with local churches and ministries. If you are interested in the Jacksonville Campus, please contact Ryan Reeves for more information. |
The Jacksonville campus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary held its first-ever commencement exercises on May 22, in which four graduates received Master of Divinity degrees.
The commencement speaker was Sarah Lebhar Hall, Adjunct Professor of Old Testament at the Jacksonville campus, and opening remarks were given by Dr. Frank James, Provost of Gordon-Conwell. Graduating students were Barbara Flynn Brice, Elizabeth O’Rourke Brooke, David Allen Grachek and Jeanne Bressoud Higgins.
The commencement exercises followed graduation ceremonies for Gordon-Conwell’s other three campuses in Charlotte, NC; and South Hamilton and Boston, MA. The total number of degrees conferred was 348 master’s degrees and 66 doctoral degrees.
Ryan M. Reeves, Ph.D. (cand.), has been named Assistant to the Dean of the Jacksonville campus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, effective immediately.
He replaces Kent Gilbert, who recently accepted a position at First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville.
A Florida native, Mr. Reeves looks forward to building the relationship between Gordon-Conwell and local churches. He will also be teaching courses in theology and church history.
Ryan has been a guest lecturer at Cambridge University and Reformed Theological Seminary. He served as Research Fellow and Editor at Teleios Research Institute, a non-profit organization in Orlando, where he created numerous teaching curricula for use in churches and seminaries worldwide. He is also the author of several book reviews.
His research interests include political theology and ecclesiology during the Reformation, specifically political obedience and resistance theory.
Mr. Reeves is completing a Ph.D. in Church History from the University of Cambridge. In 2009, he was awarded the Archbishop Cranmer Prize. For three years, he served as the graduate representative to the Church History Subject Committee, participating in course planning and department management.
He also studied at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, where he received an M.A. in Theological Studies as well as an M.Div.
