Find Books Using WorldCat Discovery

Follow the three images below for a quick overview of the search process.

1. Search WorldCat Discovery

Begin by typing in your keywords in the search box. Click the blue button to get the search results.

Search options:

  • Basic Search - simple term search (title, author, subject, etc.)
  • Advanced Search - multi-faceted search (customized term selection options)

2. View Search Results and Limit to Books

Results include limiting option (left) and available items (right). By default the catalog searches GCTS libraries and libraries worldwide. GCTS users interested to see what is available from GCTS libraries can select one or more branch libraries.

Left window: Limit results to books. Check or uncheck boxes based on preference.

Right window: Shows the results after limiting to books. You can also view the number of available copies and the 'Held by' area lets you know if GCTS has the item. Click the title link of a work to get the call number (see #3).

3. Retrieve Call Number Information

Library collections include circulating and non-circulating items. Item details will provide branch locations, call numbers, and availability.
