Finding Gordon-Conwell Theses in TREN (Theological Research Exchange Network) 

The Theological Research Exchange Network (TREN) is a library of over 10,000 theological thesis/dissertation titles representing research from as many as 70 different institutions. TREN also makes available conference papers presented at annual meetings of several academic societies. Evangelical Theological Society (1,129 papers), American Society of Church History (150 papers), Society for Pentecostal Studies (75 papers), North American Patristic Society (20 papers), American Catholic Historical Association (14 papers)
  1. From the Library Online Databases page, click the link labeled TREN (Theological Research Exchange Network).
      Note: If you are on-campus, you will be taken directly to the TREN e-Docs search page. If you are off-campus, you will need to log in with your GCTS username (the first half of your GCTS email address) and your password (your student ID, unless you’ve changed it).

  2.  You will then be taken to the page pictured on the right: (Click to enlarge view.)
     
  3. If you are searching for a particular thesis or dissertation, use the search fields listed under the Search for Theses/Dissertations: heading (see screenshot above)

    Note: You can also limit your search by date (Year Of Degree:) and type of degree (Degree:).

      Note: You can limit your search only to Gordon-Conwell theses by selecting Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary * under the School: drop-down list. (Currently the seminary is listed twice, so you may need to perform your search twice: once on the first instance of Gordon Conwell… in the drop-down list, and then again using the second instance of Gordon Conwell… in the dropdown list).
  4. If you are searching for a conference paper (e.g. Evangelical Theological Society conference papers or Society for Pentecostal Studies papers) you can use the search fields under the Search For Conferences: heading. You can narrow your search results to a particular conference by using the Conference: dropdown menu. (Click to enlarge view.)

     
  5. In your search results, you can select the title you would like to download by clicking the appropriate
    Add this digital e-Doc to the Gordon Conwell subscription link. (Click to enlarge view.)

     
  6. If you are not immediately taken to a page with a DOWNLOAD NOW! link, you will instead be taken to a
    page that asks you to Please wait while the e-doc is being prepared for you to download... (There will be a picture of a little man running around a box.)

  7. When the little man is finished running around the box, you will be taken to a download page: (Click to enlarge view.)

     
  8. To download the PDF, click the DOWNLOAD NOW! link.

    Note the password. A password is displayed on this page where it says Password Hidden in the screenshot given above. (No, Password Hidden is not the actual password. Check the actual download page for the correct password.) 

       Note the instructions. If you would like to save the PDF without viewing it in your browser, right-click the DOWNLOAD NOW! link and select “Save Link As…” and save the PDF to your hard drive.
