With RSS feeds, you can create your own list of new arrivals tailored to your own specific field of interest.
"Huh?" you ask, "What's an RSS feed?"
First, RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." RSS is a technology that was first developed to allow internet users to grab news stories and plug them into their own websites and news readers.
Second, many people use RSS feeds, in conjunction with an RSS reader like Pluck, Google Reader, My Yahoo, or even their Firefox browser to easily keep track of multiple news feeds or even blogs. Now you can be updated with the latest holdings added to GCTS libraries in any RSS reader.
To do
this, simply perform a search in the library catalog. At the bottom of the
list of search results, you
will find an orange, rectangular button, labeled "RSS" (see illustration).
Right click this button and "Copy Link Location" if using Firefox or "Copy
Shortcut" if using Internet Explorer. The copied link can then be used to create
a "Live Bookmark" in Firefox or an RSS feed in any feed reader.
If you would like to know more about using this feature, contact the Goddard Library Reference Desk.
Here's a shortcut. Click one of the RSS subject links to the right to view the appropriate list of titles added in the last 30 days.
