About The Lecture

Lesslie Newbigin, one of the greatest mission thinkers of our century, said some decades ago that the separation of church and mission "is one of the great calamities of missionary history, and the healing of this division one of the greatest tasks of our time." This lecture will unravel how that separation took place and explore how healing of the division can take place with a robust missional ecclesiology rooted in the biblical story.

About the Lectureship

The Paul E. and Eva B. Toms Lectureship in Global Christianity provides students and faculty an opportunity to interact with notable mission scholars on the most vital theological, biblical, and cultural issues related to the world mission of the church. The lectureship, which is held annually at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, is made possible through a gift from a couple whose life in Christ was enriched through the ministry of Dr. and Mrs. Toms during the years they provided leadership at Park Street Church in Boston. Dr. Toms serves on the Gordon-Conwell Board of Trustees.
