PulpitTalk - Volume 2

Fall 2003 - Preaching the Old Testament

Most people in our congregations have a difficult time understanding and applying the Old Testament and most pastors have a hard time making it clear. This issue of PulpitTalk gives you some practical advice on tackling the tough task of Preaching from the Old Testament. Listen as Walter C. Kaiser, Jr. models preaching from the Old Testament using the principles from his book, Preaching and Teaching from the Old Testament. Additionally, you will hear an interview between Haddon Robinson and Doug Stuart, Professor of Old Testament, discussing the challenges of Preaching from the Old Testament and how to overcome them.

Winter 2004 - Expository Reading of Scripture

1 Timothy 4:13 says, "Devote yourself to the public reading of the scripture." This command is taken lightly in many of our churches today. The Center for Preaching is out to spark a renaissance of public Bible reading. This issue of PulpitTalk teaches you how to become a more effective public reader of scripture and how to teach others to read well also. You will learn principles for expository reading, hear these principles implemented, and you will also learn about books that will help you improve the way you read scripture in public.
