Our office strives to keep the listings below as up to date as possible. All postings have a trained and approved mentor in place. Please note that while these postings reflect the desire of certain ministries and churches to have a seminarian work with them, ministry opportunities for GCTS students are not limited to this list.
TELOS MINISTRIES (Church of the Cross) – Apologetics, Discipleship, & Evangelism

PROJECT: Students will receive training in apologetics, discipleship, and evangelism. They will have the opportunity to meet regularly with nonChristian and Christian students at Harvard. They will receive the materials they need to facilitate both ongoing evangelistic and discipleship relationships.
HOURS: 10-20 hours / week
FINANCIAL: It is possible we can provide some reimbursement for travel expenses. We can discuss this in the initial meeting.
TIME FRAME: September-December; January -April
OTHER: We are seeking a male or female student who is confident and equipped to readily participate in robust intellectual discussions with students, who possesses a positive attitude towards many different career choices and is excited about followers of Jesus integrating their faith and their work; who is an excellent listener, has an inclination towards asking good questions, and has genuine care and concern for each student; who has personal integrity and character; and who agrees with the Lausanne Covenant available at this link.
Church of the Cross, the church through which Telos Ministries functions, is an incredibly friendly, outgoing, and alive church. We have Biblical, gospel-centered preaching, liturgy, and worship; a home-cooked meal after every service, and an active neighborhood group ministry (including a group near Gordon-Conwell). Participation in Church of the Cross is optional but encouraged.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS INC. – International Student Ministry

PROJECT: Opportunity for student to engage in international student ministry by leading seeker and believer Bible studies at local colleges and universities, organizing activities for students, developing friendships with international students, and possibly mobilize and equip a church for international student ministry.

OTHER: Seeking a male or female student who possesses integrity, a deep love for Jesus, and a desire to see His glory spread broadly. Also, student should have a genuine appreciation of and willingness to learn about other cultures.
We are a parachurch ministry that offers opportunity to minister with students, scholars, and family members from many cultures. If someone is considering working with those of other cultures this is a great opportunity to learn , practice, and serve here at home, likely in the Boston area.

POSITION: First Baptist is seeking a male or female seminary student to organize and maintain a Sunday morning college-age Bible study. We have a significant number of college-age young people in our church and we very much want to provide them with a learning opportunity that stimulates their spiritual growth and provides them with a healthy community of believing peers. The seminary student would have the opportunity to learn about the whole church ministry as he or she meets with our Senior Pastor for weekly mentoring sessions.

OTHER: First Baptist Church would like to have a student who is deeply committed to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, who has a heart for college age believers, and who is eager to learn from an exposure to the whole church ministry.

POSITION: Seeking a student who is a people person, flexible, possesses a gracious spirit, is willing to think outside the box, and who is willing to do the work of an evangelist for position offering the opportunity to help develop a new college and career ministry at New Life Christian Church. Student will have opportunities to serve in the church according to his or her gifts, interests, and goals.
HOURS: 10 - 12 hours / week
FINANCIAL: $12.00 per hour, plus $0.35 per mile
TIME FRAME: September 2012 - December 2012, with opportunities to continue through April 2013
OTHER: We are a friendly, Christ-centered, Bible-based, mission-focused church of 150 to 200 people. We engage in mission trips each year, and we are planting a daughter church in Lowell, MA, among the international residents there. We worship in a style that blends some contemporary worship as well as some traditional worship. The pastor and mentor, Ken Heath, graduated from Gordon-Conwell with a D.Min.
BAPTIST PORTUGUESE CHURCH - Variety

POSITION: The student will have an opportunity to know an ethnic church and generation of Portuguese/Brazilian families. This is a transitional church which is 100 years old consisting of an older English-Portuguese speaking congregation. The student will receive the opportunity to reach students around us at Harvard and M.I.T., since the Church is located in the vicinity of these schools.
HOURS: 10 - 20 hours / week

INTERVARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP – College Ministry on the North Shore

PROJECT: Seeking to build bridges, reach and disciple students from, Salem State College, Montserrat College of Art, Endicott College, Gordon College, and North Shore Community College. Learn how to lead Bible studies/small groups, help plan & implement programs such as weekly worship services, service projects, retreats, etc., use creativity & imagination in outreach, coaching, discipleship, one-on-one meetings.
HOURS: 10 hours / week or more, as desired.

TIME FRAME: Fall-Spring, when students are in school.
OTHER: There are roughly 12,000 college students on the north shore with little going on to reach them for Christ. As an IVCF volunteer you will get hands-on experience in college ministry & be instrumental in developing it on various college campuses. Looking for go-getters / pioneers who are relational, willing to initiate conversation with new people, responsible, dependable, prayerful and teachable.

PROJECT: Come work in Cambridge with students from Harvard, MIT and elsewhere. Lead ministry with international students, spouses and families who need to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Work to share Christ, disciple students and helping to coordinate ministry with other kingdom partners through the Boston Coalition of International Students & Scholars. Outreach with internationals involves seeker Bible studies, sightseeing trips, international dinners, English classes, cultural programs, and building relationships that will impact the world. Think of this as an international trip only in the States.
Come serve with experienced missionaries called to reach the future leaders of the world. Make a difference! Come touch lives that will not be reached without you. Meet weekly with internationals and undergrad students for evangelism and discipleship. Develop a weekly ministry schedule that allows you to meet the practical needs of internationals who are new to Boston, using your particular gifts and passions in a creative way. See some not yet seeking people become authentic seekers, and followers of Jesus.

OTHER: Boston International Ministries mobilizes Christians to meet the needs of internationals during their temporary stay in Greater Boston through genuine relationships and point them to faith in Jesus Christ.

PROJECT: We are looking for someone to help oversee our college ministry. We have 30-40 College students involved. This person would lead Sunday school, run small groups, be involved in discipling and in relational ministry with students. We also have opportunities in youth and children’s ministry.
HOURS: 10/wk
TIME FRAME: 1 year commitment
OTHER: We are a church at about 300 people with staffing and a full range of ministries from toddler to college.
