It would be ideal to work with someone in the care process of the PC(USA), but that is not a requirement.

HOURS INVOLVED: 12-15 hours/week

FINANCIAL: Monthly stipend.

TIME FRAME: One full school year.  May consider a second year, if mutually agreeable.

STUDENT CHARACTERISTICS: Mature Christian faith; Team player, to collaborate with pastor, session and other leaders to cultivate this ministry; Teachable; Experience in leading Bible studies; Experience ministering to this particular demographic; Effective communicator (interpersonal and public); Strong planning and administrative skills; Enjoys relational ministry and mentoring students and young adults.

CHURCH CHARACTERISTICS: Bethany started in 1989 as a vibrant Christian fellowship of college and university students meeting at the Korean Church of Boston; it was chartered as an independent congregation in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2003.  Over the last 6 years the congregation has quickly become a family church, with almost 30 children under the age of 8.  We worship in a public school auditorium in Brookline, and most midweek ministry happens in members’ homes around the Greater Boston area.  We continue to have a large number of collegians and young adults among our membership, and many play an active role in the church’s ministry and mission.

Our worship is Christ-centered and ordered by the Word. It includes both traditional and contemporary forms. As a new church we are still discerning our unique identity and mission. We offer seminarians a great opportunity to play a part in nurturing a young church’s ministry and mission, and to be nurtured by the pastor and other leaders in the process.
