Below you will find the most current list of Mentored Ministry Opportunities in the Hamilton Campus area, especially pertaining to Worship & Music Ministry.

Our office strives to keep the listings below as up to date as possible. All postings have a trained and approved mentor in place. Please note that while these postings reflect the desire of certain ministries and churches to have a seminarian work with them, ministry opportunities for GCTS students are not limited to this list.



PROJECT: Student will help lead worship through music and song in a multi-ethnic, multicultural context; engage in gospel-centered, urban/inner-city ministry; receive one-on-one pastoral oversight and mentoring session designed for equipping and encouragement; and direct hands-on ministry within the urban context (music ministry, neighborhood prayer walks, church functions, and outreach events).

HOURS: 10 hours / week

FINANCIAL: Compensation will be $50/week (or $200-$250 per full month)

TIME FRAME: Position is available immediately.

OTHER: We are seeking a male or female student who loves Jesus and the local church, is able to play an instrument (keys, drums, bass, electric guitars), is teachable and willing to learn and submit to pastoral leadership, and is willing to engage with and learn from people of different socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.

Christ the King Dorchester (PCA) is just one congregation that is part of a wider network of a multi-congregation church-planting church called Christ The King.  We are based in and on mission for Dorchester, a richly diverse inner-city neighborhood of metro Boston.

The Mission of Christ the King Dorchester is to extend the Kingdom of God throughout Dorchester and beyond.

PROJECT: The student will work alongside of lead pastor in worship service planning, experiencing the in and out’s of church planting, leading a team in set up of sound system, and leading a start-up congregation full of new Christians in worship.

HOURS: 10 hrs/wk



OTHER: This church is a young church plant celebrating 3 years; much opportunity to experience the ins and outs of start-up ministry.

PROJECT: The Worship Arts Intern will have an opportunity to exercise and develop leadership gifts in the areas of worship planning, worship leading, discipleship, team-building, leadership development, and administration. The Worship Arts Intern will work with the Sr. Pastor and Director of Music Ministry in the ongoing work of building a team of worship leaders and a worship brad as our Sunday worship service. There will be ample time for theological reflection on practices of worship in the process. The Intern will have the opportunity to build relationships with you the and adults involved and also have opportunities for disciple-making.

TIME FRAME: Ongoing (following the start-up dates according to the seminaries academic calendar by semester)

OTHER: Covenant Congregational Church is a multi-ethnic, intergenerational, Christ-centered church in Boston’s vibrant neighborhood of Jamaica Plain (founded in 1891). The membership of the Church is about 160, with an average attendance of about 100 on a Sunday service.

PROJECT: The Forestdale Community Church of Malden is looking for a musically gifted Worship Leader to lead our Worship Team for two worship services on Sunday mornings at 8:30am and 11:00am. The ministry involves the coordination and planning of music with the Pastor, and practice one evening every other week to rehearse music for the Sunday worship services.

FINANCIAL: Between $3,800-and $5,000 for the year. 

HOURS: 10hrs/wk

TIME FRAME: Per start up times of Mentored Ministry (Summer, Fall, and Spring)

OTHER: We are a community of people seeking to love God, love others, and make disciples as we go. Ideally we would love to have a musician who is looking for a church home during their years in seminary, and not simply looking to fulfill a Mentored Ministry requirement. We would love to have the student become part of our family.

PROJECT: Immanuel Baptist Church is a small evangelical church in Ipswich, MA, seeking a mentored ministry student interested and gifted in the leading of worship. We are looking for someone creative and gifted in areas such as music and drama. Other pastoral duties and responsibilities would be available as mutually determined.

HOURS: 10 hours / week

FINANCIAL: $100.00 / week stipend

TIME FRAME: Can begin Fall, Spring or Summer

OTHER: Immanuel Baptist Church has a long history of involvement with students from both Gordon College and GCTS.

PROJECT: Seeking a male or female Mentored Ministry student who has leadership ability, enthusiasm for worship, musical ability, and the ability to adapt well to new situations.  The student will have the opportunity to lead worship in our contemporary service. He/she will also work with the worship committee in planning for future worship services and carrying out the vision of the church in the area of worship, specifically music. He may be able to recruit and develop a praise team and organize rehearsals. He may also participate with the choir in our traditional service. Student does not need to be of the same denomination.

HOURS: 10 hrs.


TIME FRAME: ASAP-We are flexible.

OTHER: Windham Presbyterian Church is a Christ-centered, evangelical church which seeks to be warm and welcoming and offer plenty of opportunities for individuals to grow.
