Charlotte Alumni Forum 2017: Can Women Lead Men?

January 26, 2017

  • What is the role of women in ministry?
  • Can they lead in the Church?
  • Should they be allowed to hold the office of pastor or elder?
  • What does the Bible say about women leading in the Church?

This has been a hot topic that has caused much debate among Christians in recent years with some taking a complementarian stance (that men and women have different, but complementary functions and roles in the church) and others taking an egalitarian stance (that men and women are equal in their calling and gifts; therefore, there is no separation of functions or roles in the Church).

Once again GCTS’s Charlotte Campus Alumni Forum is providing us a platform to engage in this controversial topic. Join us on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Charlotte campus for the fourth “Engage Our Culture” alumni forum. Our topic will be “Can Women Lead Men? A Discussion on Leadership in the Church,” centering on the two major views—egalitarian (represented by Dr. Ben Witherington, Professor of New Testament, Asbury Theological Seminary ) and complementarian (represented by Sharon Mac Wilmshurst, student pastor, GCTS, S. Hamilton, ‘09).

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. (Please register below.)

Please help us spread the word about this event.

You don’t want to miss this opportunity to engage and network with GCTS alumni. We hope to see you there!

May God’s blessings be upon you as you wrap up the semester. Merry Christmas!!!
