Dr. Carl Saylor, Former Gordon-Conwell Professor of Ministry, Passes Away

February 6, 2018

In Memorial: Dr. Carl Saylor, Professor of Ministry at Gordon-Conwell 1974-1990, passed away on Monday, January 29. Dr. Saylor developed the seminary’s continuing education program, helped establish the Doctor of Ministry Program and was central to the development of the seminary’s Ockenga Institute. Equally significant was the impact of his life and teaching on generations of students. His pastoral heart, visionary leadership, administrative skill and gracious spirit were wonderful gifts to the life of Gordon-Conwell. Upon his departure from Gordon-Conwell, Dr. Saylor became the senior pastor at Trinitarian Congregational Church in Wayland, Massachusetts from 1990 until his retirement. A memorial service for Dr. Saylor will be held on Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinitarian Congregational Church. Dr. Tom Petter, Senior Pastor (and Gordon-Conwell Associate Professor of Old Testament), will lead the service along with other pastors who were part of Dr. Saylor’s life and ministry.
