Retirement Luncheon for Dr. Steve Klipowicz

April 18, 2017

For twenty years, Dr. Steve Klipowicz has been a fixture of Gordon-Conwell’s Charlotte campus. He has anchored the Practical Theology Division, shepherded countless students through the process of assessing their calling and giftedness for ministry, led our campus’s efforts to integrate academic preparation with real-world ministry issues, prompted numerous D.Min. students to evaluated and re-think their ministries, and left an indelible mark on a generation of gospel laborers.

As a result, we have watched with sadness as Dr. K has struggled over the last year-and-a-half with a mysterious illness, eventually diagnosed last July as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In light of that diagnosis, Dr. K has had to cut back on his responsibilities and to monitor his activity level very carefully. He and his wife Judy have moved to Maricopa, Arizona, and he will be officially retiring from Gordon-Conwell at the end of June. While we are sad to lose Dr. K, we are encouraged that with continued monitoring of his activity, he is projected to make a sufficient recovery to be able to have an active and productive retirement.

We will be holding a Retirement Luncheon to honor Dr. Klipowicz on Thursday, May 18, at 12:00 p.m. through 2:00 p.m at the GCTS-Charlotte campus.  Neely will cook his now famous pork barbecue for the event, and we hope that many of you will be able to join us to say goodbye to Dr. K. In order for us to plan properly, please RSVP if you plan to attend at
