When Helping Hurts

October 25, 2013

Date: Saturday, March 1, 2014
Location: Christ Covenant Church, 800 Fullwood Lane, Matthews, N.C.

"When Helping Hurts" has shown thousands of Christians why typical approaches to poverty alleviation fall short of expectations. Asking questions like:

  • How can we create sustainable and effective ministries to serve the poor?
  • What are the common pitfalls of poverty alleviation and how can they be avoided?
  • How can we shift our efforts from creating unintended dependency to fostering empowerment?

Join us for a one-day training seminar with co-author Brian Fikkert that will help you answer these questions. The morning session gives an overview of the core principles of "When Helping Hurts" and is designed to get entire ministry networks (churches, ministries, financial partners and volunteers) thinking about the same framework. The afternoon session applies the concepts of the morning session, empowering your church or ministry with the knowledge and tools to take the first steps in using asset-based development at home or abroad.

Hosted by Christ Covenant Church.
