Extension Requests

To request an extension for your Semlink course, you will have to contact a different office depending on who you are as a Semlink student. True distance learners contact the Semlink Office, while students enrolled and also taking on-campus classes at one of the Seminary's three physical campuses must contact their home campus registration office. Determine what type of student you are and who you should contact by reading the descriptions below.

NOTE: Extensions cannot be granted after the course due date. Even though an extension may be granted, students may receive a grade penalty. When an extension is granted, you no longer have the option of withdrawing from the course.

OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS:

You are an off-campus student if you have yet to take any on-campus classes. Once you have taken a single on-campus class, you are considered an on-campus student at that campus.

Extension requests must be made in writing and must be submitted two weeks before the course due date to the Semlink Office. The extension request should include a statement of the circumstances that have prevented you from completing your course and the amount of time lost due to these circumstances, the amount of work completed on the course to date and the work for which you are requesting an extension. Extensions are considered on an avoidable/unavoidable basis. Generally, extension requests that are based on avoidable circumstances are granted with a grade penalty. There is a $25 fee for this service. This amount should be enclosed with your extension request.

ON-CAMPUS STUDENTS (Hamilton/CUME/Charlotte):

You are an on-campus student if you have taken an on-campus course on one of the Seminary's three campuses. Even if you are no longer living near campus or are no longer taking any on-campus classes, you are still considered an on-campus student.

Requests for extensions must be made in writing and must be submitted through the registration office on the campus at which you are registered (i.e. a Charlotte student would submit requests to the Charlotte registration office). The extension request should include a statement of the circumstances that have prevented you from completing your course and the amount of time lost due to these circumstances. Generally, extension requests that are based on avoidable circumstances are granted with a grade penalty.
