Presidential Search

Dear Alumni, Students, Faculty, Staff and Friends of Gordon-Conwell,

These past several months have been a season of unanticipated transition for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. The Board of Trustees has been prayerfully and carefully working with the seminary faculty and staff to navigate our course to the future. We are filled with gratitude for God's unmistakable protection, provision and direction during these past few months. We are most grateful for the distinguished leadership that Dr. Haddon Robinson is giving as the president of the seminary and for the leadership Dr. Alice Matthews is providing as Dean of the Hamilton campus. We are grateful for the cooperation, dedication and collegiality of the entire GCTS faculty and staff. Furthermore, we are grateful for the students on all the GCTS campuses. Their good will, good minds and good hearts are encouragements to all and ample evidence that the mission of the seminary is vital and vibrant throughout the entire GCTS community.

The Board of Trustees has appointed a Presidential Search Committee to plan for the long-term leadership needs of the seminary. The Trustees are committed to a "best practices" search process that will be marked by communication, integrity, collegiality and vitality. It is a process that will be defined and directed by prevailing prayer. Therefore, as a priority for our search process, we are inviting all GCTS students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to join the GCTS Prayer Team. Equipped by the blessings of technology, we hope to gather a virtual prayer team of praying friends from around the world who will commit to pray every day for Gordon-Conwell and the strategic presidential search in which we are now engaged. Members of the GCTS Prayer Team will be included on a confidential list and will receive occasional personal email updates throughout the presidential search process. If you would like to join the GCTS Prayer Team please click here and you will be added to the Prayer Team. Thank you in advance for your faithful partnership in this most important dimension of our presidential search process.

This page on the GCTS website will be the primary means by which we will be communicating the progress of the presidential search. We will be posting regular updates from the Presidential Search Committee. We invite you to check this site regularly in order to keep current with our presidential search.

The Presidential Search Committee has been meeting regularly since May 2007. During these past few months the Search Committee has developed a five-step search process, and has also been receiving names of presidential prospects.

As previously mentioned, the Presidential Search Committee is committed to a best practices search process that is defined by communication, integrity, collegiality and prevailing prayer. We want to be good stewards of this assignment, recognizing that we are working under the Lord's sovereign leadership on behalf of the entire Gordon-Conwell community. Here are some ways you can help:

These are strategic days for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. We are between a rich heritage and a bright future. It is a time of change and opportunity. Thank you for your friendship and partnership with Gordon-Conwell. Thank you for help with this presidential search.

"Now to Him who is able to do far more than we could ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church (including GCTS) and in Jesus Christ, throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen" Ephesians 3:20-21
