Application Procedure

See us on the road!

Those entering the D.Min. program will have completed an ATS-accredited M.Div. degree or its educational equivalent with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. They should have at least three years of active ministry experience and be currently involved in ministry. They should be able to demonstrate the use of the various exegetical, theological, and ministry tools to examine the Scriptures and apply them to life.

The admissions process for the D.Min. degree normally requires several weeks. Because there is significant preparation for the first seminar, the student should apply for the program as early as possible (ideally, eight months before the first residency course).

Application Items

Applications will be considered for action when the following items have been received:

  1. Official application form (you can also access the application on-line)
  2. Brief statements in essay form answering questions about personal orientation, vocational objectives, and an assessment of strengths and weaknesses;
  3. A brief autobiography;
  4. Official transcripts sent directly from all colleges, seminaries and other institutions of higher education attended;
  5. Three written recommendations attesting to the applicant's commitment to Christ, leadership ability, emotional stability, social sensitivity, commitment to justice, and facility in interpersonal relationships;
  6. A letter from the applicant's church or judicatory indicating understanding and support of the candidate's intention to pursue doctoral studies;
  7. A $50 application fee.

Please keep in mind that before a residency starts, there are 4-6 months of preparatory readings and papers to be completed. The application process must be complete before the preparatory work can begin. We recommend that you apply 6-8 months before the residency starts.

The maximum time for completing the D.Min. program is six years from the time of your first residency.
