Dr. Ciampa came to Gordon-Conwell after 12 years of cross-cultural experience in Portugal, where he had taught in two different theological schools as a missionary with the Greater Europe Mission. He served overseas again as a visiting lecturer at the Instituto Superior de Teologia Evangelica in Angola in May 2004. He maintains close ties to Portugal, working as a translator/reviser of the Portuguese Bible Society’s contemporary Portuguese translation of the Bible, a task that takes him to Portugal several times a year.

Dr. Ciampa is a member of several professional organizations and fellowships. These include the Society of Biblical Literature, the Institute for Biblical Research, the Tyndale Fellowship for Biblical and Theological Research and the Evangelical Theological Society. He is an ordained minister in the Conservative Baptist Churches of America and serves on the board of overseeing elders at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA.

Dr. Ciampa’s scholarly interests include exegetical methodology, Old Testament and Jewish backgrounds to New Testament texts and theology, biblical theology and Bible translation.

His personal interests include motorcycling, boating and supporting the New England sports teams, as well as attending the North Shore Music Theatre.
