Technical Requirements

While the course materials themselves can be obtained in a fairly low-tech format (a hard copy of the course notebook and lectures on audio CD), the interactivity requirements for each course necessitate some access to basic technology. If you do not have access to your own computer, consider whether you have frequent and easy access to internet-connected computers at your local library.
As long as you have a computer with an up-to-date operating system (Windows XP/Vista/7 or Mac OSX) and have the following components and third-party software, you will be able to access the Semlink Disk and Semlink Online.
- DVD Drive
- Internet Access
- Sound Card & Audio Speakers/Headphones
- A Web browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.)
- Adobe Reader
- Adobe Flash Player
- Apple Quicktime
- If you are taking a language class, you will need the appropriate fonts, which are located on the course disk.
