Spiritual Growth

Spiritual Growth

As a community of believers, our first desire at Gordon-Conwell is to worship and engage with God, both corporately and individually. We believe that academic learning divorced from a life of biblical spirituality and holiness neither honors God nor serves His people. Working with the local church, our goal is to grow our students so that their experiential knowledge of God in Christ is evidenced in their character, outlook, conduct, relationships and involvement in society.

With chapel, daily prayer times, spiritual retreats, on-campus community groups, overseas missions trips and ministry experiences in and around Boston, the opportunities for spiritual growth abound. Consider how Gordon-Conwell can help you grow in your relationship with God as you seek to worship Him with your whole heart, soul and mind.

Explore these valuable resources for spiritual growth at Gordon-Conwell:

  • Overseas Missions Practicum (OMP)
Gordon-Conwell mobilizes, trains and sends out teams of students into cross-cultural areas around the world where they can serve the poor, share their faith and network with Christians and missionaries from a broad spectrum of other cultures and church traditions.
  • Pierce Center for Disciple-Building
Within the context of a loving Christian community, the Pierce Center prioritizes lifelong intimacy with Jesus Christ while developing incarnational disciple-builders.
  • Chapel Services
Held twice each week, chapel provides our diverse community with the opportunity to worship God together and hear His Word preached.
  • Ockenga Institute
This institute within Gordon-Conwell expands access to our rich educational resources through centers like the Shoemaker Center for Church Renewal, the Center for the Study of Global Christianity and the Mockler Center for Faith and Ethics in the Workplace.
  • Daily Prayer for the Nations
This 30-year, student-led tradition brings students together every day to pray for the global mission of the church.
  • Women’s Resource Network
The Women’s Resource Network seeks to support all women of Gordon-Conwell in whatever calling God has placed upon their lives. The network encourages the spiritual growth of women, provides opportunities for them to build supportive community during this time of ministry preparation and enables them to more effectively minister to others. The network welcomes students, wives, staff and faculty.

“One of my favorite classes was “The Practice of Prayer.” Through this class, I developed a passion for prayer which I believe will stay with me for my entire life.”
