Before Courses Start

New Student Orientation

  • Complete Online New Student Orientation (ONSO)

    • ONSO should take approximately five hours total for you to complete.

  • On-Campus Orientation

    • Our on-campus Orientation provides an opportunity for you to begin building relationships and community with your fellow students, Charlotte faculty, staff, and friends of the seminary. You will have time to meet with your faculty advisor and begin your degree program advising, as well as learn more about soul care and spiritual formation while in seminary. Our fall New Student Orientation is our kick-off event for the year, so if you are entering during the spring or summer semesters, plan to join us at the next available NSO!

      RSVP for Orientation

Please note that we do not offer childcare during Orientation.

  • Course Syllabi

    • Once you’ve registered for classes, be sure to download and review the course syllabi for each of your classes.
    • Pay attention to the semester beginning and ending dates. Even if your first class meeting occurs a few weeks into the semester, you must start course readings and assignments on the first day!
  • Books

    • You can find required textbooks on your course syllabi. The Charlotte Bookstore posts the textbook lists every semester, as well as emails out to students. Students can place their textbook orders online and have them shipped or held for pickup.
  • Paying Tuition

    • Students will find payment deadlines listed under Student Accounts. Please note that staff for student accounts and financial aid are located at our South Hamilton campus, which has different hours of operation than the Charlotte campus.

Campus Life

  • Parking

    • There is ample free parking to either side of the campus buildings; your student ID cards allow access through the central doors (but not the side doors).
  • Dining

    • Dining, shopping, and rest stations are within a three-mile drive of the Charlotte campus. Rivergate Shopping Center offers a variety of restaurants and shops (including Target and Best Buy for technology needs). There’s also a drive-thru Starbucks!
    • Students are welcome to bring snacks and meals; our student lounge offers a small galley kitchen with microwave and refrigerator, as well as a coffee bar and vending machines.
  • Harold Lindsell Library

    • You will be able to check out books and access the online database once you have requested and received your student ID card. The library is open throughout the week, and our staff look forward to assisting you with your research and studies.
