SUMMARY:Sabbath as Resilience Conference
DESCRIPTION:Co-hosted by Gordon-Conwell Institute’s Mockler Center for Faith and Ethics in the Public Square and Faith in Business \nWe invite you to participate in the Faith in Business 2024 Cambridge Leadership Retreat. Together we will learn what work looks like when it starts by resting in God\, and what the implications are as we invest our time\, our skills\, our relationships and our money in our businesses. This year the theme is “Being Productive – Working from Rest\,” and the retreat will take place in Cambridge\, England on April 26-27\, 2024. \nThe Bible puts rest at the center of the Gospel. It presents rest as the reason why the gospel is good news. It shows that\, at the heart of God’s offer of salvation in and through Jesus Christ\, is the offer of deep rest. As we find true rest in Christ\, we are released from our fears to realize our true potential in all spheres of life. \nExpect to hear and heed the call to rest in God in ways you have not yet imagined. And return to your workplaces refreshed and ready to nurture businesses and employees unlocking the beauty of God’s creation! \nLearn More & Register

SUMMARY:Spring Pastors' Conference: The Imperfect Pastor
DESCRIPTION:Leaders in ministry are pressured to produce large\, famous things as fast as possible. But the things that matter most in the lives of those we serve require small\, mostly overlooked graces over a longer period of time. Pastoring and preaching are best when seen as acts of love and wonder hovering within the ordinary lives of particular people. This means we also need wisdom. When competing cultural questions\, political voices\, and individual doubts rise\, it can feel more difficult to know which voices belong with Jesus\, and how to wisely help others hear his voice and biblically follow him. In these conversations\, Dr. Zack Eswine will spur you on to taste the goodness of wiser loves and skills for your life and ministry. \nSchedule\n9:45-10:45 a.m. Plenary Session I: The Imperfect Preacher\n12:00-1:30 p.m. Dean’s Forum: Locating Jesus in our Political Moment (lunch included)\n1:45-3:00 p.m. Plenary Session II: The Imperfect Pastor \nRegister by April 1 \nMany of our events are recorded (with speakers permission) and photographs may be taken for publicity purposes and promotion on social media. For more information regarding this or to request that your image not be used for this purpose\, please contact the Hamilton Dean’s office at deansforum@gordonconwell.edu. \n\n\n\n\nDean’s Forums exist to explore topics of church\, culture\, and theology. To learn more about upcoming events and to watch recordings of previous events\, visit the Dean’s Forum page.\n\n\n\n\n\nRev. Dr. Zack Eswine (PhD) serves as Lead Pastor of Riverside Church in Webster Groves\, Missouri. Having served in campus ministry\, congregational ministry\, and as a professor\, Zack has served as a pastoral leader for over thirty years. \nZack’s books include The Imperfect Pastor: Discovering Joy in Our Limitations through a Daily Apprenticeship with Jesus\, Preaching to a Post-Everything World\, Recovering Eden: The Gospel According to Ecclesiastes\, and Spurgeon’s Sorrows: Realistic Hope for those Who Suffer from Depression. \nZack and his wife Jessica co-founded Sage Christianity to bring the questions of our cultural moment into conversation with the wisdom of Jesus by providing wisdom formation for leaders in ministry.
