Loan Counseling - Federal Direct Student Loans

Entrance Counseling

If you accept a student loan as part of your financial aid package, you must complete entrance counseling before we can release your loan to you. This counseling is done online and takes 20-30 minutes. The entrance counseling is designed to inform you about your rights and obligations as a student borrower.

A student who is applying for a GradPLUS loan instead of a Direct Unsubsidized Loan is still required to complete entrance counseling.  In that case, a student must complete the GradPLUS entrance counseling.

If you have questions as you complete the counseling requirements, use the help features on the counseling page or contact the Financial Aid Office at (978) 646-4018 or finaidinfo@gordonconwell.edu.

Exit Loan Counseling

If you have a federal student loan, you will also be required to complete exit counseling when you

  • Graduate
  • Attend less than half-time OR
  • Withdraw

Like entrance counseling, exit counseling is done online. Exit counseling provides repayment information including payment plan options.
