What is the Latino & Global Ministries (LGM) program?

Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s LGM program offers an outstanding and affordable theological education to communities previously underserved.

Our mission is to equip Church leaders to think theologically, engage globally, and live biblically.

Who teaches the LGM program?

Dr. Alvin Padilla ( MDiv ‘84, MPhil, PhD) is professor of New Testament and dean of LGM.

Dr. Padilla works with a group of instructors composed of men and women who have a clear commitment to Christ, advanced academic degrees, and experience as pastoral agents or leaders in their respective churches. Anyone who teaches for the program must affirm Gordon-Conwell’s Statement of Faith, which emphasizes the value and authority of the Bible as a rule of faith and conduct.

How many students do you have?

There are approximately 1,300 students enrolled throughout Gordon-Conwell and about 120 students specifically studying with the LGM program.

What programs does LGM offer?

We offer two academic journeys through LGM: the Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies (18 credit hours) and the Master of Arts in Theological Studies (60 credit hours).

Through the graduate certificate journey, we also offer a mature admissions path for Christian leaders with significant ministry experience who haven’t the chance pursue a college degree. Successful completion of the certificate, with a 3.0 GPA, enables leaders to apply to transfer into a Gordon-Conwell master’s degree.

Can I earn a second degree or receive advanced standing if I already have a master’s degree?

Yes. If you already have a related master’s degree from another institution or Gordon-Conwell, we will determine how many credits may be transferred to a second degree based on an audit of the courses you have taken.

Can I transfer courses from another school?

If you took master’s level courses at another theological institution accredited by the ATS, we can possibly validate up to half of the credits required for the degree.

We cannot validate courses in non-theological areas, such as administration, psychology, or education.

What languages can I study in?

We offer classes in Spanish and Portuguese.

Is the degree online? Where are classes offered?

Our program allows ministers and leaders the flexibility of completing their degree fully online.

Classes are offered in Digital Live format, so students attend classes online in real-time with a live instructor. To accommodate current work and ministry commitments, classes are offered in the evenings and on the weekends.

Are scholarships available?

Once a person is accepted as an LGM student, he or she enjoys an automatic scholarship. Learn more about our scholarship and tuition rate.

After completing an MATS, what else can I study at Gordon-Conwell?

After completing the MATS, students can apply for the Liderazgo Pastoral (Pastoral Leadership) track of the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree, which is offered in Spanish and English.

How Classes Work

When can I register for a class?

Admitted students will be sent instructions on how to access their student account and register for classes. Students will also be paired with a Student Success Representative, who will guide them as they choose their classes for each semester.

I am a student in another Gordon-Conwell degree program, can I take LGM classes?

Yes! Any current Gordon-Conwell student can register for LGM courses.
