Presented to a graduate for full-time study in the New Testament or Early Church History (1st to 7th centuries) in preparation to pursue further studies in Early Christianity toward a vocation in teaching and scholarship.
In memory of the late John D. Tate, Presbyterian Minister and Trustee of Gordon Divinity School, this award is given to a graduating M.Div. student going into ordained pastoral ministry.
Presented to a graduate who demonstrates high scholarship and creative ability, together with promise of distinctive achievement in Christian service through their Mentored Ministry endeavors.
Sponsored by the Lilly Foundation, this award is given to a graduating M.Div. or ThM student who exemplifies solid preaching skills and demonstrates a commitment to improve his or her preaching.
Frederick Buechner was a significant American writer and theologian. He authored more than thirty published books and was an important source of inspiration and learning for many readers. The Buechner prize seeks to honor a student whose work reflects the excellence of Buechner’s inspiring words and works.
Presented to a graduate for “excellence in the liturgical reading of the Scriptures.”
Presented to a graduate whose sermons exhibit biblical preaching applied to everyday life.
Presented to graduates who exemplify outstanding initiative in attaining and exceeding all of the goals set forth in the Partnership Program and have practiced biblical stewardship consistently.
Presented annually to a graduating senior in the M.Div. program who manifests a deep level of Christian maturity, a high level of academic achievement and has received the highest GPA.
