Rodney Cooper - Director

Dr. Rodney L. Cooper serves as the Director of the Center for the Development of Evangelical Leadership (CDEL) and the Director of Graduate Programs in Counseling at the Charlotte campus. Dr. Cooper is also honored to occupy the Kenneth and Jean Hansen Chair of Discipleship and Leadership. He holds doctorate in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from George Fox University/Western Seminary, and a Th.M. degree in Practical Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is the author of numerous articles and books including We Stand together (Moody Press, 1995), A Commentary on the Gospel of Mark (Holman Commentary Series, Broadman and Holman, 2000), The Doublebinds of Men: The Contradictory Demands of Manhood (Zondervan, 1996), and Shoulder to Shoulder (Zondervan, 1997). Dr. Cooper speaks nationally for conferences on men's issues, marriage and reconciliation, and also consults with organizations in the areas of ethnic diversity, healthy organizational culture and conflict resolution. Dr. Cooper has a private practice specializing in minority and men's issues. He is currently finishing up a book on leadership tentatively titled, The Last Leadership Book You will Ever Need.

Shari Adams - Pierce Coordinator of the Charlotte Campus

Shari Adams serves as the Director of the Pierce Center for Disciple-Building at Gordon-Conwell's Charlotte campus. Her work encompasses several areas of engaging students in spiritual direction including soul care groups, retreats, and integrating spiritual theology with counseling. Shari's degrees are from Wheaton College, Azusa Pacific University and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Loyola Marymount University. She is also a licensed counselor and a Pastoral Care Specialist. Shari and her husband, Lon, live near Charlotte and enjoy friendship with their three adult children."

Timothy Laniak - Dean

Dr. Laniak serves as the Dean of the Charlotte campus. He is also Professor of Old Testament and Mentor for the Christian Leadership Doctor of Ministry Track. Dr. Laniak received his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton Collegeincluding Shame and Honor in the Book of Esther (Scholars Press, 1997), the NIBC commentary on the book of Esther (Hendrickson Publishers, 2003) a Handbook for Hebrew Exegesis (Logos, 2010), Shepherds After My Own Heart: Pastoral Traditions in the Bible

(InterVarsity Press, 2006) and the award-winning While Shepherds Watch Their Flocks (ShepherdLeader Publications, 2007; Logos, 2009). His most recent release is Finding the Lost Images of God, is in Zondervan’s Ancient Context, Ancient Faith series. His website equips leaders to think biblically about leadership.

Steve Klipowicz - Director of Ministry Formation & Mentored Ministry Program

Dr. Steven Klipowicz has served as an Administrative Faculty member and Director of Ministry Formation at Charlotte since 1997. He directs the Master of Divinity program, the Master of Arts in Christian Ministries (MACM), and the online Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) degree program. Dr. Klipowicz completed his Ed. D. from the University of Illinois in the field of Education, Organization, and Leadership. From 1978 to 1985 he served as pastor of Assemblies of God churches in Illinois. Since then, much of his ministry has focused on developing professional and educational training for ministers, congregational leaders and seminary students through his work in publishing, television, and seminary education.
