Introduction to Global Spirituality and Global Leadership
|T. Johnson||DigitalLive||May 18 – August 14*|
*DigitalLive Classes: July 20–24 | 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
The course is an overview of global Christian spirituality and global leadership and will address the dynamics of these two disciplines in context of global Christianity. The first half of this course is a survey of Christian spirituality from many different traditions and many countries around the world. In particular, the course focuses on spirituality emerging from the churches of the Global South (Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America). Readings on Christian spirituality will be drawn from a number of sources including compendiums on worship, mission, biblical reflection, and theology.
The second half of the course will explore the theology of leadership, the history of leadership, the sociology of leadership, and the globalization of leadership. Students in the course will be challenged to undertake original research projects on the persons, organizations and issues that contributed to these movements worldwide.
