Graduate Certificates

Get a start on seminary with a graduate certificate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary's Boston Campus. These short, personalized non-degree programs give college graduates the opportunity to investigate the Bible and Christianity without making a commitment to a long-term degree. Students enrich their spiritual life, grow in their understanding of God’s Word, learn to put Christianity to work in the modern world, and broaden employment and volunteer opportunities in churches and parachurch ministries.

Graduate Certificate in Bible

Courses (6) 18 Credit Hours
Old Testament Survey 3 credit hours
New Testament Survey 3 credit Hours
Interpreting the Bible 3 credit hours
Any additional in-depth Bible Course 3 credit hours
One history or theology course 3 credit hours
One course in ministry or ethics (MC801, SE571, or Faith & Work) 3 credit hours


Graduate Certificate in Christian Foundations

Courses (6) 18 Credit Hours
Old Testament or New Testament Survey 3 credit hours
One Church History Course (any) 3 credit hours
One Theology Course (any) 3 credit hours
Church & Community 3 credit hours
One course in Ethics/Work (SE571 or Faith & Work) 3 credit hours
MC 801 Strategies, Leadership, Ministry Management 3 credit hours

*This graduate certificate offers broad exposure to a wide rang of seminary topics.

Students who complete the graduate certificate can apply all credits toward a MDiv or MA at Gordon-Conwell (and many other seminaries), and successful completion with a GPA of 3.3 or higher may allow students to take an elective in place of Introduction to Theological Studies.

Admissions Requirements

Interested students can apply online today.  All students must submit the following:

  1. Application
  2. Two letters of recommendation: i) Church/Professional/Academic; ii) Personal
  3. Autobiography (no more than 2 pages)
  4. Personal Statement (no more than 2 pages): 
  5. Official transcript documenting the completion of at least a Bachelor's degree
  6. Immunization Records
  7. $50 Application Fee
  8. Resume (optional)
  9. TOEFL: All International Students, whose primary language is not English, must submit a TOEFL score to Gordon-Conwell, Boston Campus.
