Christianity Today Interviews President Sunquist on Gender Roles in the Global Church

President and Professor of Missiology Scott Sunquist was recently interviewed by Christianity Today on the recent history and global trends of gender roles within evangelicalism and the Church. He shared from his experience as a missionary and pastor in Asia, his academic work on Christianity in non-Western locations, and his experience leading a global seminary with students from fifty countries and eighty-five denominations.

He celebrates the diversity of cultures, supports the critical role women hold in the church, and encourages humility when approaching “nonessential” topics such as this: “As we all know, the diversity of cultures (seen most clearly in religion and language) is a beautiful thing to witness and to thank God for. […] When the gospel enters into any culture, it moves that culture toward greater grace, wholeness, and flourishing for all people. Cultures are fallen, and the gospel rectifies cultural patterns to individuals, families, and societies.”
