Royal Capitals Discovered Near Jerusalem!

Digging near what is now the Armon Hanatziv Promenade, archaeologists from the City of David have found what is being referred to as a “once in a lifetime” discovery.  The find includes three decorated column heads, or capitals, that date to the First Temple period and which are believed to be linked to the Davidic Dynasty.  Click here for the recent Jerusalem Post article, which includes a two-and-a-half minute video that captures the excitement of the moment when the first two capitals were found.

The purpose of the Cooley Center is to explore the historical foundations of the Christian faith. This is accomplished by several means, one of which is providing resources that explore archaeology in the Middle East during biblical times.
