Dear Gordon-Conwell Community,  

It has been a year and a half since we announced the Pivot. Awakened to finances, we committed to better fulfill our mission by focusing more on people than property. Since then, while many higher education institutions are going entirely remote, our Board of Trustees reaffirmed our commitment to residential theological education through the Life Together model. By God’s grace and with this re-energized vision from the Board, our likelihood of staying on the Hamilton campus increased.  

We are now excited to announce that we will remain on the Hamilton campus. The ownership of our apartments will change in the coming year, but we will continue to provide ample housing for full-time Hamilton students. We will retain ownership of our dorms, and the availability of apartments for students will be a necessary condition of the Purchase and Sale Agreement between the seminary and the purchaser of the apartments. 

Significant Pivot progress has been made, but we must rezone our property to expedite the sale of the apartments, provide us with flexibility for the future, and supply the Town of Hamilton with continuous tax revenue. We are working with the Town on a rezoning bylaw, and residents will vote on it in a General Town Meeting in the coming months.
