In the summer of 2021, Gordon-Conwell formally transitioned to new degree programs. Learn More. The program below remains active for students who entered before that time who have not yet graduated. No new students are being accepted into this specific program.
Our cornerstone degree, the Master of Divinity prepares nearly 40% of our students to serve in ministry around the world. If you feel called to vocational ministry, to nurturing and growing churches locally and internationally, to taking the Bible seriously through intensive study and sharing the Word of God faithfully, the MDiv is designed for you.
Students will be prepared to meet ordination requirements for many Protestant denominations in the U.S., as well as service in chaplaincy programs (military, hospital, national parks and others).
Students may also choose to pursue a Master of Theology (Th.M.) as a capstone year of focused ministry preparation after completing the MDiv.
As the primary degree for ministry preparation, the Master of Divinity generally draws students desiring to enter full-time vocational ministry. The student body is made up of a diverse group of people from different ethnicities, countries, denominations and phases of life. Because of its flexibility and diversity, the MDiv is also a great option for students still exploring their call.
Graduates have also applied their MDiv in the marketplace, public policy, education, research, public service, medicine, dentistry, law and Hollywood (yes, Hollywood).
*Degree can be completed with 3 years of full-time study, but may span longer if pursued part-time.
Our flagship degree, the Master of Divinity with a concentration in Urban Church Ministry prepares nearly 40% of our students to serve in ministry. Through a wide array of courses with a unique urban emphasis, this robust degree will give you the skills and foundation that you need to effectively proclaim God’s redeeming work in the context of the city. If you feel called to vocational ministry in an urban context, to nurturing and growing multi-ethnic churches, and understanding and meeting the needs of urban communities, the MDiv is designed for you.
