What light has the last 30 years of archaeology shed on the life and ministry of Jesus? Work in Galilee has clarified important aspects of the role of the synagogue in Galilee, as well as Galilean commerce and economy. Recent archaeology has forced New Testament scholars to revise long-held assumptions about the religious life and piety of Galileans.

What the Dead Sea Scrolls Really Tell Us About Jesus

The Dead Sea Scrolls have lived up to the claim made shortly after the discovery of the first cave in 1947 that they constitute the most important discovery ever made relating to the Bible. The Scrolls tell us many important things about Jesus (though not what popular media often claim). Among other things, the Scrolls support the idea that the Messiah will act with divine power in saving Israel, defeating Satan, and forgiving sins.
