Convocation

September 14, 2022 at 11:00 am12:00 pm EDT

Dear Hamilton Community,

First week of school is finally here. I hope you feel excited and hopeful about what the Lord will do in and through your life in our community this academic year.

Looking back at everything we have been through in the last couple of years, we are thankful that we are able to start a new academic year with a more normal rhythm, with classes face to face, and our community dynamics restored. However, the pandemic has rewired so much of our social interactions and expectations. And many of our new habits are still fostering the isolation we learned.

As the people of God, we are called to live in community, embodying the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our relationships. Theological education needs to follow that principle, especially in an institution that exists to equip and nurture the Church of Christ. But this ethos will not be restored on its own. We have to be intentional about it.

Therefore, I would like to invite you to our very special Convocation chapel this coming Wednesday at 11am. Our desire this academic year is that Chapel will be restored to its central place in the life of our community—the whole campus gathered together under the authority of God’s word. Besides a wonderful time of worship and preaching of the Word, there will be a special announcement at the end, which relates to an important initiative we are implementing called Life Together Wednesdays. Please come to hear more.

Know that the Dean and the Faculty are praying for you.

May the Lord bless you,

Mateus de Campos, PhD
Dean of the Hamilton Campus
Associate Professor of New Testament
Director of Discipleship
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
