Dean’s Forum: Exodus: Then and Now

February 12 at 12:00 pm1:15 pm EST
Virtual Event

The Exodus is the seminal moment in Israel’s history as a nation. This signal act of God’s saving power liberated Israel from oppression in Egypt, enabling the Israelites to serve God freely, even as he dwelt in their midst on their journey to the promised land. Recalling their deliverance from Egypt, the Israelites celebrated the Passover each year. The story did not end with the inauguration of the New Covenant by Jesus. The Exodus instead became the template for God’s saving act in Christ: baptism represents the liberation from the kingdom of sin and death, but the Christian life remains a perilous journey through the wilderness of the world until we reach the Promised Land of the New Jerusalem. In this Forum, we will explore the roots of the Exodus in the deep history of Israel, and see its final flourishing in the Exodus journey of the Apocalypse.

The Dean’s Forum discussion is free and is open to the public. RSVP is required for those who are planning to attend in person. NO RSVP NEEDED IF YOU PLAN TO WATCH ONLINE. Lunch will be provided to those who will be attending in person.
