Dr. Justin Young

Biography:
Dr. Young’s main area of research is in Pentateuchal studies, with a particular view toward the covenant at Mount Sinai and the construction of the tabernacle in Exodus 19-40. Some of his other research interests include the theology and exegesis of the Psalms, Biblical Theology, and cultic rituals in the ancient Near-East.

After graduating from Gordon-Conwell in 2014, he and his wife, Gena, moved to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he completed his PhD from The Queen’s University of Belfast (2018). His dissertation is entitled, “Sinai and the Sanctuary: Reassessing the Source-Critical Distinction between Priestly and Non-Priestly Material in Exodus 19-40.” Dr. Young is coauthoring a commentary on the book of Exodus with his former PhD supervisor, T. Desmond Alexander, for a new series entitled, The Bible in God’s World (Cascade). He is also a Fellow of the Institute for Biblical Research and has contributed reviews of works in Biblical studies to Review of Biblical Literature, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, and Africanus Journal.

Dr. Young teaches Biblical Hebrew Grammar and Exegesis courses at Gordon-Conwell. In addition to teaching, he serves as assistant dean of Networked Education. He and Gena are parents to Magnolia and are members of Christ Church Presbyterian, where Dr. Young serves on the missions committee.
