Biography:
Dr. Wright’s deepest passion is the educational ministry of the church, and her accomplishments center around Bible teaching and training.  Making the Bible reader-friendly has defined her work in the local church. This comes with a belief that it is right and just that each believer has equal access to quality theological education and training. She has served the local congregations as a Bible Study teacher for more than 40 years.

Dr. Wright’s doctoral thesis centered on “Influences of a Laity/Clergy Dichotomy on the Ministry of the Urban Church.” It argued for greater emphasis on intentionally educating the whole church, both laity and clergy alike, in order that parishioners might most effectively serve Christ’s call to disciple making.  One of her favorite readings is the document, “The Whole Church taking the Whole Gospel to the Whole world” written by the Theology Working Group for Lausanne III Congress – Cape Town 2010

Additionally, educating and training opportunities in the whole city and region continue to be Dr. Wright’s long-term work and vision. She is particularly concerned that the local congregations serving America’s poorest communities are aware of and have access to the multitude of theological education and training opportunities that might enrich their tireless work and ministry in, for, and with their respective communities.

Dr. Wright’s introduction to seminary education was a result of local course offerings that began in 1990 through a partnership between Gordon-Conwell–Boston and a group of Hartford area clergy. She is one of four graduates resulting from that 1990 initiative.  Since 2001, she has worked alongside another Gordon-Conwell alumni in partnership with the Boston campus to restart course offerings in the Springfield/Hartford region.  More than thirteen graduates have completed a master’s degree program at Gordon-Conwell through this 2001 initiative.

Dr. Wright continues to serve her local church (Phillips Metropolitan CME Church, Hartford, CT), the greater Hartford community and the region in roles that are consultant- and project-oriented relating to theological education and pastoral care, particularly in the area of grief support and training.

Since 2017, she has served on the Board of Directors of Vision New England.
