Feasting: Visual Art & Spoken Word

Feasting is a central theme in our lives and in the story of God, and this event is an opportunity to reflect creatively on how we experience the goodness of God in material, sensory, and edible ways. A series of original paintings by Hilary Siber Edwards are inspired by the Old Testament Feasts of the Lord as filtered through her own story, and a spoken word performance by Monica Harrison will explore this theme through the gift of words. This event includes a dessert reception, an opportunity for audience response and Q&A, and time to mingle and enjoy the artwork and each other.
Hilary Siber Edwards is an artist living and working in Charlotte since 2016. She graduated in 2007 from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Environmental Design and in 2015 from Clemson University with an MFA in Painting. Her personal studio work explores the fractured aspects of perception through contemporary landscape painting and sculptures. She creates murals and sculptural installations as well as teaching part-time at the college level.
Monica Harrison, South Carolina native, now residing in Charlotte, is a dynamic Christian spoken word artist. Her gift allows her to blend life experiences with biblical applications to deliver poetry that encourages, inspires, and uplifts audiences. Not afraid to address touchy topics, her perspective and delivery will capture your attention and leave you better than you were before. She holds to a motto that “one word can change your life.”
