Inspired by Revelation 10:1–6, Olivier Messiaen composed and premiered his Quartet for the End of Time while incarcerated as a POW in Silesia, Germany during World War II. Come hear a preconcert lecture by Dr. Andrew Shenton (James R. Houghton Scholar of Sacred Music, Boston University), a homily by Dr. Sean McDonough (Gordon-Conwell, Professor of New Testament), and a complete performance of Messiaen’s innovative work by the Ensemble Chamarré, with a reception to follow.
