Innovative Ministry & Nonprofit Seminar

Join us online or in person on May 22 from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. for a day filled with inspiration and practical guidance for pastors, lay leaders, and nonprofit leaders. This seminar is for you if you:

  • are a pastor or nonprofit leader who needs some fresh ideas
  • are a church planter seeking new ways to reach people for Christ
  • are a student looking to connect with innovative leaders

At the Innovative Ministry and Nonprofit Seminar, you’ll hear from experienced leaders about discerning God’s direction for your church or nonprofit, and you’ll get practical advice in the context of either church ministries or nonprofit organizations. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a community that is dedicated to exploring new ways to impact the world for Christ. Also, learn about the upcoming graduate-level Innovative Strategies for Ministry Course at Gordon-Conwell this summer.

9:30 a.m. Opening Kick off the seminar with prayer and a brief welcome from Dr. Brad Howell.
10:00 a.m.

Session 1: Finding Your Footing

Attend the ministry track or the nonprofit track

Hear panelists’ stories of how their innovative ministry or organization began. To help you find your footing, they’ll highlight the catalysts that set their mission in motion—including prayer and biblical reflection, community needs, godly mentors, technological breakthroughs, and the steps they took to secure key resources.
11:30 a.m. Lunch Lunch is provided for on-campus attendees.

Session 2: Failing Forward

Unified Roundtable

Discover how the panelists overcame setbacks in their ministry or nonprofit work. To help you fail forward in your innovative work, they’ll explore cultural influences, the importance of solid biblical application and spiritual formation, adjustments in mental frameworks, and redemptive lessons.
2:00 p.m. Break Stretch your legs, reflect, or connect with others in person or online. Coffee and snacks are provided for on-campus attendees.
2:30 p.m.

Session 3: Fostering Flow

Attend the ministry track or the nonprofit track

Join panelists as they share insights on creating and sustaining momentum in ministries or nonprofits. Learn how innovative flow is fostered by developing things like spiritual guardrails, sustainable budgets and staffing, and sharing the vision with your team and community.
4:00 p.m. Break Stretch your legs, reflect, or connect with others in person or online.
4:15 p.m. Closing Conclude with final insights and a closing prayer by Dr. Brad Howell.

Innovative Strategies for Ministry Course

This one-day seminar also serves as the kick-off for Dr. Brad Howell’s course Innovative Strategies for Ministry, where each student will receive one-on-one guidance for building and maintaining an innovative ministry plan. If you apply to Gordon-Conwell and are admitted (deadline April 30), you can take the full course, including a special session on using data in your ministry context.

If you enroll in the full course, your ticket cost for the one-day seminar will be refunded.
