Alumnus Luke Thoreson Receives Preaching Today Award

Recent alumnus Luke Thoreson (MDiv ’21) is among the winners of this year’s Biblical Preaching Award from Preaching Today. Each award-wining sermon is comprised of faithful biblical exposition, a clear and simple structure, creative illustrations, pastoral application to daily life, and urgency in delivery.

Luke preaches in “Return of the King: Jesus is the King We’ve Been Looking For” that Jesus, far from starting a revolution, came to stop exploitation and exclusion. In our troubled world, he is the King we have been looking for who welcomes the marginalized, puts all things right, and heals. Luke concludes by encouraging us to join in with singing, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”

A Gordon-Conwell alumnus was also one of last year’s winners. Sam Ng’s (MDiv’ 21) sermon So… What’s the Plan?,” focused on what we can learn about making plans from the book of James.

Please join us in congratulating Luke and his preaching professors, Dr. Matthew Kim and Dr. Patricia Batten.
