Dr. Adonis Vidu Releases New Book on Divine Missions
Dr. Adonis Vidu, Gordon-Conwell Professor of Theology, recently published his fifth book, The Divine Missions: An Introduction.
This new publication examines the differences between the missions and operations of the Trinity, the hypostatic union of Jesus and human nature, and the culmination of divine missions in returning and redeeming creatures to God.
Dr. Vidu explores this eschatological vision throughout the book and establishes that “the invisible missions are disposing us for the enjoyment of God . . . [and will] continue into eternity, as our enjoyment of God continues to be in some sense accompanied by our delight in the glorified Christ.”
According to the publisher, “with ample illustration, [Dr. Vidu] explains the technical concepts, the operative principles, and he clarifies the historical and contemporary debates. In the process, a constructive theology emerges where the category of divine missions frames topics such as the incarnation and life of Christ, his atoning death and ascension, the Pentecostal outpouring of the Spirit, the invisible indwelling of the Spirit, and finally the eschatological beatific vision.”
