New Discipleship Resources from Alumni and Local Leaders

Gordon-Conwell alumnus Pete Scazzero (MDiv ’85) recently published Emotionally Healthy Discipleship as a resource for pastors and ministry leaders. With the goal of combatting the negative impact of “shallow discipleship” on ministries, Scazzero offers guidance for “creat[ing] a church culture that multiplies deeply changed disciples,” as the publisher describes.

Scazzero’s first book on this topic, Emotionally Healthy Church, won the Gold Medallion Award (now the Christian Book Award) from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association and has been translated into over twenty languages.

Discipleship and deep spiritual formation are integral in a Gordon-Conwell education. Students are encouraged to participate in the Discipleship Experience, and this fall the Discipleship Experience is excited to partner with local disciple-making practitioners from across New England to host The Great Co-Mission. This one-day discipleship forum on November 6 will feature local disciple-makers that have seen multiplication of new disciples formed in New England, as well as national leaders who support disciple-making multiplication in a variety of contexts.

Be encouraged and trained by picking up a copy of Emotionally Healthy Discipleship and by registering for The Great Co-Mission.

Registration closes on October 24. Gordon-Conwell students can register for free. Regular registration is $30 and is open to everyone else on the event page.
