Meet Human Resources

Patti Orlando, Director of Human Resources 

First year at Gordon-Conwell: 2023

Places she’s called home: Born and raised in Massachusetts, she has lived in Hamilton, MA; Wenham, MA; Gloucester, MA; and now resides in Ipswich, MA.

Patti is a graduate of Bentley University. Before joining Gordon Conwell, she was the Human Resources Manager at Myopia Hunt Club for 10 years. As Director of HR, she focuses on overseeing the development and execution of HR programs, policies and services to staff, legal & regulatory compliance, employee relations, compensation, recruitment, performance management, corporate culture, and strategic planning. Patti enjoys reading, traveling, playing golf, and spending her free time with her husband Brian, her two kids Aidan and Chloe, and their two dogs Nakita and Zelda.

Mary Herlich, Assistant Director of Human Resources

First year at Gordon-Conwell: 2000

Places she’s called home: Mary has lived in South Hamilton, MA since 1990.

Before joining the HR team in 2004, Mary served as a Teacher’s Aide in Gordon-Conwell’s Nursery School. From there she served as Payroll Manager before becoming Assistant Director of HR. Mary’s work focuses on employee onboarding, benefits orientation & administration, faculty/staff payroll, compliance & leave management, and assisting employees on policy matters, programs, and services. She loves painting, long walks, the coast of Maine and home improvement projects. Mary spends her free time with her husband Jeff, their dog Sadie, their four grown children and their new grandson.

Susan Wilson, Human Resources Generalist

First year at Gordon-Conwell: 2023

Places she’s called home: Grew up just outside of NYC then lived in Concord, MA, Manchester, MA and has lived in Essex, MA for 7 years.

Susan is a graduate of Gordon College, a past employee of Gordon College, and is now happily employed at GCTS. Her work focuses on recruitment, employee training efforts, processing student payroll, keeping the HR office running smoothly and handling essential administrative tasks from compliance to community-building activities. Susan enjoys being active outdoors, spending time with her large family, reading, and traveling. She also enjoys volunteering at events for the special needs community.
