Dr. McDowell’s Latest Book Receives Praise in the Review of Biblical Literature

Dr. Rebecca Poe Hays, Assistant Professor of Christian Scriptures at Baylor University, recently reviewed Dr. Catherine McDowell‘s latest co-authored book, The Rewards of Learning Greek and Hebrew: Discovering the Richness of the Bible in its Original Languages, for the Review of Biblical Literature. Dr. McDowell is a Gordon-Conwell alumna and has served as Associate Professor of Old Testament across the seminary for over ten years.

According to Dr. Hays, the book’s message is well-established in its “concrete examples and real-life implications rather than grammatical theory, text-critical analyses, or historical linguistics.” She recommends The Rewards of Learning Greek and Hebrew to students of all levels studying Greek and Hebrew. She explains that it is “a way of delving more thoroughly into the work of exegesis and translation” for intermediate students and offers “a sense of why they are working so hard to learn the language” for beginner students.
