Boston, MA (May 1, 2026) — Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and The Home for Little Wanderers have signed an agreement for the sale of the seminary’s property at 90 Warren St. in the Nubian Square neighborhood of Roxbury, MA. As the building enters a new chapter of mission-driven use, it will become the headquarters of The Home and the new location for The Home’s Child & Family Counseling Center, Family Resource Center, and other programs, expanding vital services in the community. The sale also enables Gordon-Conwell to advance its mission through the strategic use of proceeds from the sale. As part of the agreement, The Home for Little Wanderers will allow Gordon-Conwell to continue using classroom and office space in the building over the next year as the seminary explores how to best expand its reach to urban centers in Boston and beyond.

The agreement reflects a strong alignment between two institutions deeply committed to the flourishing of people and communities. The Home for Little Wanderers is the nation’s oldest child welfare agency and a top non-profit in Massachusetts, serving children and families through more than 30 community and residential programs. The partnership is further strengthened by the presence of Gordon-Conwell alumni from its MA in Counseling program serving as counselors at The Home. Their service is evidence of GordonConwell’s broader mission to equip leaders for faithful and effective work in ministry, counseling, academia, and the workplace, highlighting the shared values that connect the two organizations.

In a time of rapid change in how postgraduate education is delivered and accessed, GordonConwell is intentionally evaluating how its physical spaces best support its mission. By aligning underutilized property with a missionaligned partner, the seminary is able to extend its educational reach, maintain a meaningful urban presence, and ensure that valuable community resources continue to serve the city of Boston. This approach reflects continuity of mission and presence even as the seminary adapts the forms through which theological education is delivered in an urban context. The seminary also continues to support students through its residential campus in South Hamilton, Massachusetts; its campus in Charlotte, North Carolina, and its hub in Jacksonville, Florida, both serving primarily commuter students; and a robust online global program.

“We are grateful to have found a partner that shares our deep commitment to Boston. Ensuring that 90 Warren St. continues to serve this neighborhood, now through expanded mental health and counseling services, reflects exactly the kind of faithful, collaborative presence Gordon-Conwell is called to. Our urban ministry programs began in 1976, and we will continue to adapt with intention and care to best equip our students to serve in an urban ministry context,” says Dr. Scott Sunquist, president of the seminary.

“This is an exciting and meaningful next chapter for The Home,” said Lesli Suggs, President and CEO of The Home. “Establishing our headquarters and bringing programs including our Child & Family Counseling Center and Family Resource Center to Roxbury allows us to deepen our presence in a community we proudly serve, making care more accessible for children and families. We are equally grateful for our partnership with Gordon-Conwell during this transition, which reflects a shared commitment to strengthening communities and supporting those who need it most.”
