SOUTH HAMILTON, MA (May 2, 2019) — A total of 234 master’s degrees and 42 Doctor of Ministry degrees will be conferred by the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Board of Trustees during commencement exercises at 10:00 a.m., May 11, at Gordon College in Wenham, MA. The ceremony will include graduating students from both Gordon-Conwell’s South Hamilton and Boston campuses.

Dr. Dennis P. Hollinger will be the commencement speaker at his last Commencement as President before retiring June 30. Dennis Hollinger has served as President and Colman M. Mockler Distinguished Professor of Christian Ethics at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for the past eleven years. Prior to that, he served eleven years as a professor, eleven years as a pastor, and eleven years in school administration. Dr. Hollinger is the author of four books and more than eighty articles, primarily in the field of ethics, and has served as the co-editor for the Eerdmans book series, Critical Issues in Bioethics.

The Student Reflection will be given this year by Su Kim, who graduates magna cum laude with a Master of Divinity and completes a remarkable year as President of the Student Association. After graduation, Su, his wife, Christina, and their five children will move to Thailand as full-time missionaries.

A baccalaureate service will be held at 8:00 p.m., May 10, in the A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel at Gordon College. The speaker will be Dr. Pablo Polischuk, George F. Bennett Professor of Pastoral Counseling and Psychology and Co-founder of the Masters in Counseling Program at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Dr. Polischuk also retires this summer after 29 years with Gordon-Conwell.

On May 19, an additional 11 master’s degrees will be conferred during commencement exercises at the seminary’s Jacksonville, FL, campus, and 85 master’s degrees and 9 doctoral degrees will be awarded at the seminary’s Charlotte, NC, campus.

About Dr. Dennis P. Hollinger,

President and Colman M. Mockler Distinguished Professor of Christian Ethics

Dr. Dennis P. Hollinger concludes his eleven-year tenure as President and the Colman M. Mockler Distinguished Professor of Christian Ethics at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA. Over the years he has served in various leadership, academic and pastoral roles.

Dennis is a frequent speaker in churches, pastors’ conferences, seminaries, colleges and academic forums. He is the author of four books, including The Meaning of Sex: Christian Ethics and the Moral Life (Baker); Head, Heart, Hands: Bringing Together Christian Thought, Passion and Action (InterVarsity Press); and Choosing the Good: Christian Ethics in a Complex World (Baker). He has authored more than eighty articles, mostly in ethics and has served as the co-editor for the Eerdmans book series, Critical Issues in Bioethics.

Dennis graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1969, received the B.A. from Elizabethtown College, the M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, the M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Drew University, and did post-doctoral studies at Oxford University. He and his wife Dr. Mary Ann Hollinger have two married daughters and six grandchildren.

About Pablo Polischuk,

George F. Bennett Professor of Pastoral Counseling and Psychology

Dr. Pablo Polischuk concludes his 29-year tenure as the George F. Bennett Professor of Pastoral Counseling and Psychology and Co-founder of the Masters in Counseling Program at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. In addition to his tenure with Gordon-Conwell, Dr. Polischuk has taught at the Israel College of the Bible, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Southern California College and Fuller Theological Seminary. He has led numerous workshops on a wide variety of psychological and church-related topics in the U.S. and abroad.

Dr. Polischuk is a practicing psychologist serving in both private practice and hospital settings in Massachusetts, California and Jerusalem. He has also spent many years working actively in church ministry. As an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God, he has preached at diverse Spanish and Anglo speaking churches. He was the senior pastor of Templo Calvario in San Francisco and served as interim pastor at several New England churches, including Park Street Church in Boston.

In addition to his many professional and ministry achievements, Dr. Polischuk is an accomplished oil painter and acoustic guitarist.

Su Kim was born to a poor farming family in rural South Korea but immigrated to the United States at the age of four. His lifelong curiosity in God led him first into the Presbyterian Church in Maryland and then out to Thailand on a series of short-term missions trips. After being called as full-time missionaries, Su and his wife, Christina, came to Gordon-Conwell to become better equipped theologically, biblically and practically to engage the people of Thailand with the message of Jesus Christ. During the past three years, Su has distinguished himself as a scholar, pastor, and ambassador. He graduates magna cum laude with a Master of Divinity and completes a remarkable year as President of the Student Association at Gordon-Conwell. After graduation, Su, Christina and their five children will return to Thailand to inspire new generations of men and women to pursue a lifelong curiosity in God.
