Gordon-Conwell’s Center for the Study of Global Christianity Completes Ten-Volume Series
In 2017, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Center for the Study of Global Christianity (CSGC) published the first of ten volumes in the Edinburgh Companions to Global Christianity series. This month the seminary celebrates the completion of the entire series.
Dr. Todd Johnson, Eva B. and Paul E. Toms Distinguished Professor of Mission and Global Christianity and co-director of the CSGC, and Dr. Kenneth Ross, CSGC research associate, were editors on all ten volumes. Dr. Gina Zurlo, adjunct professor of world Christianity and mission and co-director of the CSGC, was an editor of the tenth volume. Their joint work researching, monitoring, and analyzing demographic trends in Christianity is the foundation for this seminal publication.
The unique series of reference volumes comprehensively maps worldwide Christianity. Nine of the volumes focus on individual regions or continents, providing country-specific studies alongside broader trends. Full demographic analysis is provided through a combination of maps, tables, charts, and graphs. The tenth and final volume is a global atlas that delivers a complete visual and textual account of Global Christianity, exploring continents, Christian traditions, and themes such as worship, gender, and religious freedom. It concludes with a focus on the future of Global Christianity.
The series’ ten volumes include:
- Christianity in Sub-Saharan Africa (May 2017)
- Christianity in North Africa and West Asia (April 2018)
- Christianity in South and Central Asia (April 2019)
- Christianity in East and Southeast Asia (March 2020)
