Hamilton Campus Update: March 8, 2022
A Hamilton campus update from Gordon-Conwell President Dr. Scott Sunquist:
Dear Gordon-Conwell Community,
This morning as I was having my first cup of coffee and opening my Bible, I got a call that we had a fire on top of the Academic Center on the Hamilton Campus. By the time I arrived everything was under control, thanks to the work of our Facilities director, Tim Ingraham, the Gordon police and the Hamilton and Wenham fire departments.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but thankfully the damage was limited mostly to two roof-top HVAC units and a lot of rubberized roofing. There is also some water damage on the third floor, but nothing extensive and, thankfully, no one was injured. As we assess electrical issues and work to clear out the smoke, the building will be closed for at least a day.
Chapel will be held in the Alumni Hall for today.
Hamilton classes will be moved online today. The library is open.
We will send an update around 3:00pm today.
I am reminded again, during this Lenten Season, of the fragility of life and property in this world. Each day is a gift for us to use in serving the Lord. We long for that heavenly realm, even as we work to reach more that Christ would welcome them to His Kingdom.
Thank you for your support and prayers.
